Chevrolet Corvette C6 by Late Model Racecraft

Weren’t we just talking about all those 1,000-horsepower American sports cars a few days ago? In case you need more proof of that, here’s another mind-bending example: A Chevrolet Corvette C6 that was worked on by Late Model Racecraft to push out 1,600 horsepower. Built in collaboration with LMS and D2Forged Wheels, this berserker of a sports car could very well be one of the most powerful Corvettes you’ll find anywhere in the world.

This Corvette already has an impressive 6.2-liter V8 engine under its hood, one that produces 430 horsepower and 424 lb/ft of torque. Apparently for some people, those figures are just not worthy of their time. So they did what any right-minded tuning shop would do: tune it up to their standards.

The result is a Corvette C6 that carries a twin-turbocharged WarHawk motor, resulting in a dizzying output of 1,600 horsepower. We’ll repeat that in case you got confused: 1,600 horsepower.

And if that wasn’t extreme enough, Late Model Racecraft made sure to give the Corvette the look to match its output, courtesy of a Z06 widebody kit and a new set of 19" (front) and 18" (rear) three-piece D2Forged VS1 wheels.

With a car that carries such a significant mod set-up, there’s a big chance that this program will cost you more than what you’re willing to spend. Then again, 1600 horsepower is 1,600 horsepower, and a lot of people will pay premium money to have that much output on a Corvette.

McLaren drivers out of title race

Is it now a three-way battle for the title? © Getty Images
Fernando Alonso is still the driver in the best position to win the drivers? title according to the Daily Telegraph?s Tom Cary.
?Focus and concentration will be of paramount importance and there is none stronger in this regard than Ferrari?s Fernando Alonso.?
The Guardian?s Oliver Owen thinks that it is Mark Webber?s title to lose now, and that this may be the Australian?s last realistic chance of winning the title.
?He has driven beautifully. Monaco and Silverstone spring to mind. He has been an uncompromising racer, not giving Vettel or Lewis Hamilton an inch in Turkey and Singapore respectively. Most importantly, he has largely avoided the bouts of brain fade that can wreck a season ? his on-track hooning in Melbourne when racing Hamilton being the only exception. But there is a feeling that for Webber it is now or never, that a chance of a tilt at the title may never come again. He is certainly driving as if that is the case and that has been his strength.?
According to The Mirror?s Byron Young, both McLaren drivers are now out of the title hunt after their fourth and fifth place finishes in Suzuka.
?McLaren's title hopes died yesterday in a weekend from Hell at Suzuka. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth in a Japanese Grand Prix they had to win to have the remotest chance of keeping their title bid alive."
The Sun?s Michael Spearman was of the same opinion, saying ?Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button's title hopes were in tatters after a shocker in Japan.?

Williams F1 Team on Thursday, revealed the livery for its 2011 car, the FW33 during an event broadcasted online. Their interim livery had made its debut at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, on 1 February.

The Williams FW33 2011 livery was released on 24 February, adding white, silver and red to the existing dark blue in a design directly inspired by the Rothmans livery used from 1994 to 1997.

Reigning GP2 champion and rookie driver Pastor Maldonado joined Sam Michael at the event. Maldonado's co-driver, veteran Rubens Barrichello was not present at the event as he was celebrating his 14th wedding anniversary with wife Silvana.

The most visible name on the car is that of energy company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), which joined the Williams F1 boat after the British squad signed Pastor Maldonado for the 2011 season. In addition, the new livery also comprises the name of temporary employment company Randstad.

Williams has also announced a new partnership for the 2011 season of Formula 1 with one of Britain's most acclaimed chefs Michael Caines (who will join the team with responsibilities in the hospitality area).

The British chef, who received 2 Michelin stars some 12 years ago and has retained them ever since, said,
"I am thrilled to be involved with the AT&T Williams team as an official partner and to help them develop their already high standards of hospitality.

(...) It is a prestigious relationship and something we are very excited about and proud of. I am a petrolhead at heart and I?m passionate about Formula One. I have followed Williams over many years so for me this involvement is just brilliant"

A touch of nostalgia!
