Last year around this time I started a thread about "holy grail" kits - the one kit you always wanted that just seemed way too out of reach. My kit was Tamiya's 1/12 McLaren M23. Long discontinued with no indication that Tamiya would ever re-release it, I resigned myself to one day spending $500+ on a collector's market kit.
Well, flash forward to Dec. 2010 and lo and behold, Tamiya must have renewed some agreement with McLaren, because we've been treated to the re-release of the 1/20 McLaren M23, the 1/18 McLaren M8, and the 1/12 M23 (Marlboro version, not the Yardley release). As luck would have it, I recently received a $500 non-cash award at work that I could convert into Amazon gift certificates and today I laid down $160 to buy the kit! I also added that Tamiya vintage Honda RC166 GP Racer motorcycle kit. That thing just looks way too cool!!
And so, to the purpose of this post. Since we all engaged in this discussion last year, has anyone pinned down that long desired kit and finally added it to their collection? Now that I have the M23, I'm eying the M8. I wouldn't mind one of the new Lotus kits, and I still want the Revell Hemi Dart and one of the new midget racers. So many kits... so little cash.
