Anadol A1 in 1/24 scale.

Korkut Varol is a Turkish modeller who makes mixed material modelkits of Otosan Anadol, and Otosan 500/600.
The Otosan 500, and 600, is a pick up, based on the Anadol, sharing most parts, except bed, fueltank, and some chassis details. When beeing in Turkey this summer, I got in contact with Korkut Varol, and I bought one of his kits. I got it shipped to me inside Turkey, but I don't think there will be any problems doing buisness with Korkut from outside Turkey. I have bough modelkits at ebay, from Turkish sellers, and it have been no problems.

Now the kit I bought. I choosed the Anadol A1 as I couldn't afford more then one kit. The A1 was developed by Reliant, from Otosans specifications. It's a 2 door sedan, produced from '66 to '75. At first it had the 1200ccm Cortina engine, but this was soon changed in favour of the more solid 1300ccm Kent engine. The kitted version have round headlights, making it a pre '70. From '70 on, the A1 had rectangular headlights.

The kit have a laser cut steel chassis. Vac formed accetat windows. Resincast body, and most major parts. Some smaller parts have been pre assembled. A small PE sheet. And there is a multisheet english texted building instruction, with beautifull iso drawings. I think that I was the first one buying this kit from outside Turkey, or the first one not reading turkish, as he translated the instructions after I ordered the kit. That is service.

The real car have a fiberglass body, on a well dimensioned chassis. This is prototyical correct replicated in the kit as well. Only the body is now in polyurethan resin. It's delicate casted, supricingly thinn. This have both plusses, and minusses, but I love the fact that there is minimal preparation of the parts.

Korkut have actually cleaned most of the parts, and he don't like too sell something with a lot of pinholes. As pinholes is a small problem, I told him not to worry, but I still got one nice casted kit. Some parts have a little warpage on the pictures. These are more a result of some transport damage to Norway, when the kitbox was inside on of our suitecasses.

The PE sheet got three different grilles, and I belive the two extra grilles are for the Otosan 500, and 600. Other PE parts beeing the rear licenseplate holder, reflectors, mirrors, and a lovely ANADOL script for the booth.

Bezels, and door handels.

Lasercut steeringwheel, and handbrake. Steeringcolumn, and shifter have been casted with stainless pins pre mounted.

The engine is OK as long as the hood is not cut open. It's a bit rough, but as the Kent engine is a simple little engine, it's acceptable. But, if You wish to cut open the hood, I would use a Tamiya Lotus 7 engine insted. The two piece exhaust is prebendt alu.

Interior is simple, as in the 1/1 car, and nicely rendered in scale.

Wheels are prototypical correct steelies, with hubcaps. Tires are a bith wide, 13 inches, based on some downsized AMT rubbers.
You also see some casted headlight lences, and several bullet like smaller lences for signallights, and taillights. The instrument clocks are printed on a piece of paper, and will need some carefull cutting. Adding some epoxy on top, and they will be close to as good as decals.

This shows that that it is one serious modelbuilder that have made this kit.

The bumpers are casted in resin, but are strenghtened with casted in wire.

This kit impresses me, as it is a very correct looking replica of the fullsize car. Korkut is a scratchbuilder with big qualities, and he let the buyers of his kits get the same solide parts that he used on his masterbuild. The lasercut chassis seems expencive compared with a resincasted likewise, but it makes the lineup of the thin casted floorboard, interiorsides, and body, be far more stable. Korkut used a week for preparing this kit. Costing 120 euros, it is cheap, when looking on what You get of handmade metall parts, PE, and lovely resincasted parts. The resin is a bit more brittle then we are used to, and it doesn't look to be of the best quality, but it works well in this kit. The fact that lots of the materials used in this kit is not top of the line, makes the preparation of the kitparts more impressive.  I'm just amazed, as this is one full kit, of one unusual car.
As I'm one of the lucky ones that have a big partsbox, I will replace some of the smaller parts in the kit. This doesn't make the kit any poorer, as it have all the parts You need to build a replica inside the box.
Ohhh, the box!! The cardboard box was strenghtened with 5mm MDF boards, or hardpressured cardboard. The most solid kitbox ever!!!
