Jenson Button McLaren MP4-25 WIP

Hi guys, I started this kit a little while ago but progress has been pretty slow, mostly due to paint issues.  I have had a lot of problems with getting paint to match carbon fiber well and when I put clear over it it tends to crack.  I think I might buy a carbon fiber decal sheet and use decals instead to fix this problem so if anyone has any info on how well Studio 27's decals are that would be a huge help in my decision on weather to buy them or not.  I'm open to other brands if anyone has any suggestions.  Enough blabbing, here are the first pics.

The kit.  So far the kit has been great with awesome fit of all the parts.  Definately soak the parts in some sort of cleaner though because there is some mold release on them.

Here is the completed motor.  Hard to believe these things turn 18000 (ya, 3 zeros) RPM in real life!

The bottom of the chassis.  I got the look of wood by spraying that section light brown, let it dry, then brush painted dark brown.  Once it was dry in a few days, I wetsanded the top layer of dark brown off leaving only the recessed areas dark.  If I get the decal sheet then all of the rest will be carbon fiber instead of metalic black.

Here is the top of the chassis with the motor sitting in place.  The carbon fiber decals in the kit stand out with clear over them.  Just as a warning to anyone building this kit, decal softener is manditory!

Thanks for looking and all comments and criticism always welcome!Big Smile
