Well I've been gathering up parts and so it begins, another build under way. This kit is some what of a challenge because of the lack of engineering on some of the parts.
I've started with a Revell ferrari 250 GTO kit, which was 25% off the retail price in the store so I picked it up. After that I looked at it in the box and decided that heck lets build a Ferrari. I've never built one of these before so it will be a new experience. Also there's a ton of after market parts for this kit or kits. I have a Model Factory Hiro kit that I'm building along side this car. I'm going to compair the two and add positive and negatives about both as the builds progress.
I Purchased Hiro wheels and tires and engine for this kit, along with a KA models photo etch kit, hobby design exhaust tips and double photo etch kit to finish it up. I'm going to paint my Ferrari classic red which is typical though classic to me.
Now to start with, I've been working on the body work which is a lot of sanding and filling. Also the front nose is in two sections which is kind of unessary. The hood doors and trunk lid are all sperate and are designed to be opening or to operate. They do not open or close or even come close to working! So my advice to the weekend model builder is to glue them shut! Don't bother with the trunk and doors just have the hood open. I'm in the process of making hinges for everything. I finished up the hinges on the trunk lid and it worked out great. It took me about six trys to get it right though it's worth it. I also had to modify the trunk to allow for the hing travel. If anyone needs info on making hinges I have a powerpoint on making them and I would be happy to share.
I hope to get this body painted or at least in primer in the next few days.
Here's a few pictures and thanks for looking.
